Price Devereux’s father, who had inherited an estate at Vaynor, in Montgomeryshire, represented Montgomery Boroughs under William III and, as a peer, was lord lieutenant from 1711 to 1714. An uncompromising Tory, Devereux was returned on the interest of Watkin Williams Wynn at a by-election in 1719, voting against the Administration in all recorded divisions until he became a peer. In 1727 he was returned for Orford, where his father as lord of the manor had a strong interest, but chose to continue to sit for Montgomeryshire. He died 29 July 1748.
